Jay Wolf Schlossberg Cohen’s RAP project (Rebuilding Through Art)
Jay worked with Bridget and Galen’s co-parishioners at St. Ignatius Jesuit Church and with the Dogwood staff and apprentices to create the colorful community art murals that adorn The Dogwood’s entrances and walls. Over a year, Jay worked with us to create images that reflected the themes of nurture, nature, and the dogwood tree. We visited farms, we read poems and passages that celebrated these ideas. Then, as “non-artists,” we drew what had inspired us. As teams, we created collages that Jay then used to design the patterns that make up our murals. Inspired by our community, finished by Jay, our Dogwood murals reflect the vibrant bounty of nature, the nurturing spirit that drives our training program, and the beautiful seasonality of the dogwood tree. Look for a slide show of our murals very soon.
